Summary

So this is just a summary of what was done for post-show.

We did personalized and general thank you letters for sponsors, assessors, faculty, special thanks, volunteers, speakers and alumni.

We made thank you packages that included 5 postcards, and a wrap piece that had a thank you message inside for assessors, sponsors and speakers.

We made USB boxes to hold the files that were given to high level sponsors. (Images below)

We ordered kraft retail paper bags, kraft envelopes, bubble mailers, white envelopes.

We included Versos, YSDN posters, Gradshow posters, NewWebPick favours, Gradshow pins, Gradshow slides into assessor and high level sponsor packages.

USBs are here!!!

I just received the USBs at about noon. I was pretty surprised that they delivered them so quickly, since it was just last week that I got a reply from them. I now have 20 USB drives, 512MB. The dimensions of the USB is 3.125 (Height) x 1 (Width) x 0.25 inches (Depth). There is also a nice circular area on the front where we can possibly buy circular labels and stamp or print our logo onto it and stick it onto the USB.

Blog change

You might notice that the text size has increased. Winnie said it was hard to read before, so I've changed the font size to a larger one.

Another change... say what???

Yes my lovely team, there are more changes... so here is the updated items. Basically, we are looking at the same design pieces, just different people of who they apply to. We will discuss this all during the meeting Tues, Mar 24, 8:00pm via msn. (this meeting is for the post-show team... there is a separate meeting for non-post-show crews in person on Wed, Mar 25, 3:30pm, York TEL lab 1...in case anyone else reads up on this...)

1) For staff at Steamwhistle, low level sponsors, lighting ppl, entertainment, caters, transportation ppl (basic level): Postcard Pack

2) For high level sponsors, external assessors, YSDN profs, speakers (industry ones): A Small Postcard Collection, Canvas or Paper Bags

3) For high level sponsors only: CD [that is meant as a medium to hold info regarding their sponsorship] or an extension of the website, and a thank you letter

4) For volunteers, and other basic aid/help/support : A 'thank you' e-mail form

So the items are postcard pack, postcard collection, paper/canvas bag, CD/web-based, thank you letter, e-mail thank you

These are the items, for sure (99.9%), and who they are given to may change.

So where everything stands

So, here is what we are focusing on, after much discussion with the post-show team and members of identity, graphics, and promo.

1) For f
amily/friends: postcard pack (1000 units) [like the James Jean piece (on the blog, with a wrap piece and a booklet of 3-5 postcards]
2) For industry
: Disposable Camera, Silkscreened Bags, A Small Postcard Collection (300 Units) [(same idea as 1) but a full collection of 10-20 postcards], if we can get the bags and camera great, if not that's alright too.
3) For high level spons
ors: A small postcard collection [same as 2) or maybe more cards] USB or CD that is meant as a medium to hold info regarding their sponsorship) (10-15 units)

Also, we had discussed (in the first meeting), of doing a full collection with every student, and their postcard with their website image on the front. Everyone at the meeting liked the idea of selling these, so I think that we will set up a meeting with graphics, and they can brief us on their process and then we can aim to try to do this (but we should start with creating 20 cards, and then move to more if we have time).

In terms of the flipbook, Members on Identity liked it a lot since it is interactive. So I think that we should explore the flip book idea more, using the images from the website/submitted ones.

Just like this format for the postcard series, not like this design.

Just like this format for the flipbook, not like this design.

Meeting 1 Recap

So we had our first post-show meeting yesterday. Here is what we are looking into.

#1. - meant for family/friends night (estimate of about 1000 visitors)
- the item will be a button on a thank you card/note

#2. - meant for industry night (estimate of at least 300 visitors)
- the item at this point is undecided, since we are relying on donations
- our first choice is: disposable camera that will have our designed package/thank you note
- our second choice is: reusable bags that are silkscreened with our design
- our third choice is: a postcard booklet/ series that relates to the theme of our show
- so basically, if we cannot get the first/second choice as donations or at a cheap price, then we will be doing a postcard series
- it was also mentioned that a postcard series that showcases all the students work might be something that we want to make and then sell at the show, but we would have to figure out the production cost since we are aiming to sell them for less than $10
- if we want, we can always do a combination for this but we have to wait and see what donations we can get

#3. - meant for sponsors that gave a large sum (estimated of less than 10 at the moment)
- our first choice is to have USB with a PDF (showing their contributions, their logo at the show/on the design invite etc), possibly a short video with a thank you note, and an accompanied printed version of the PDF (sort of like the sponsorship package)
- if we cannot get USBs then we can use CDs (possibly rewriteable ones)

Important Details

The components that we are considering for Post-Show are:

1) A thank you note/card (this would be a simple card or letter that says something like ‘thank you for attending our show… etc etc’)

2) Give-away that is design by us (can be a class related give away where contact info of class is on it, or can be a designed piece that showcases the theme of our show)

3) Sponsored or donated give-away (where we can get a company to donate a give-away to our show, such as disposable cameras, usb etc. then we can design a wrapper or packaging for it)

Keep in mind that 1) and 2) can be combined as one piece (like you can make a printed piece that has a thank you message already on it).

So feel free to give some in-depth thought/sketches/research into what the thank you package should be. You can post your ideas on the blog, and a meeting will be scheduled later on in the month of February.
